It's around 36 km to Wangaratta from my farm so it's a 72 km return journey which is a good length ride. Today I had a nice tail wind on the way home which is always appreciated and makes you feel like you are flying. With the Tour de France in it's final week and the excitement building with Cadel Evans being in a very strong position there will be a few late nights coming this week.
As a keen cycling enthusiast I love heading out for a decent ride. As I live on a farm if I want to spoil myself with a coffee during my ride then I have to head for town. Fortunately there are a few good options and one of my favourites is Cafe Derailleur in Wangaratta. The coffee is excellent and they have one of the best Chocolate Brownies I've ever tasted. Have a look at the Google Map below for it's location.

It has been some time since my last post regarding the renovations of my house. After some excellent holidays
and other activities we are back into the job at hand. The last couple of weeks has mainly been painting and today we installed the ceiling fans and the doors on the new walk in robes. Painting is not exactly my most favourite job and if I ever decide to become a professional painter then you know I have finally lost the plot. Saying that, the finished job is quite rewarding and it's fantastic to see things really starting to come together. Whilst wandering around this evening in a bit of a daze from staying up late watching the Tour De France I spied the moon coming up. As I was outside and had an excellent bonfire going to keep warm I ran inside and got my camera and tripod. Was just in time to fire off a couple of quick shots before the moon rose above the trees and into the open sky.
Last night I ventured into Rutherglen, to the Tuileries Wine Bar, which is part of the Tuileries Restaurant,Cafe,Accommodation and Function centre. It is located in the old Seppelt Winery building in Rutherglen.
As a teenager one of my best mate's dad was the manager of Seppelt's Rutherglen and I have lots of memories of our adventures exploring the massive buildings and getting up to mischief. One of my reasons for my visit, aside from the opportunity to sample a nice red, was to take some photographs and on Wednesday night they have live music which adds to the atmosphere and also the subject matter for my photography. It was quite a challenge as the lighting was very dim, the results from my Canon 5D in these conditions rarely disappoint, most of the shots were taken with a shutter speed of around 1/40th sec. @ f2.8 and ISO 1600 for any camera buffs who might be interested. Last week I travelled North up the Hume Freeway into NSW to my brother's farm near the small town of Humula. It's only 2 hours drive from my place and slightly higher elevation which means the nights are cold and they have frosty cold mornings. I went up there to help with lamb marking which is done around this time every year. I took my camera but didn't have much time for photographs. Below is pretty much all I managed to get.
