In North East Victoria I believe we have some of the most beautiful sunsets on the planet. Two nights ago I was sitting outside and reckoned conditions were brewing for a beauty.I quickly went inside and grabbed my camera and tripod, jumped the back fence and wandered out into the back paddock. As a photographer I'm weary of sunset photos without any other object of interest, but felt this was one worth sharing.
Been thinking about updating my Canon 5D recently and when I heard about the 6D it made me curious and it was also reasonably priced.I was initially hoping to purchase the 5D Mk lll but really couldn't afford or justify the extra $1300 (body only) price.I went to Albury yesterday to purchase a 6D body and came home with the 6D Kit which included Canon's 24-105mm L series lens.I already own this lens and am very happy with it.Buying the kit made me eligible for a $300 cash back from Canon so I figure I'll end up selling my original Canon 5D and one of the 24-105mm lenses which will help with the purchase price.
Below are 4 images I took with it yesterday afternoon. We'd just had some thunderstorms and it was getting towards sunset so the light was pretty nice with some beautiful clouds in the sky. With conditions like this you'd get lovely photos with your iPhone.Saying that I'm quite pleased with the initial results from the 6D and looking forward to testing it out on other subjects. What about purchasing a copy of my 2013 Cycling Photography Calendars?I've set up a page here with all the information.
Also happy to work with people to avoid postage costs where possible.Great Xmas gift for cyclists. I've been tinkering with the idea of watermarking the images I put on the web from now on.I've had a few suggestions with many different ideas. Some say keep it discreet whilst others want more boldness to make it harder for the watermark to be removed.I personally like the more discreet option and if people are that keen they want to get rid of the watermark, good luck to them.Below are 3 options I've tried to date,I'm not a fan of the large watermark on the bottom image.Placement of the smaller one seems to be more important so it's visible without ruining the image.
Last week I attended the Masters Championships Time Trial near Goulburn NSW. Before and after my own ride I managed to fire off a few photos of other competitors. There is a small gallery here.
Late this afternoon I realised I was out of milk.Living out of town this meant a slight dilema.Either go without for my morning coffee, or slip into Rutherglen for supplies.Thinking of something to make for dinner, I decided that pizza cooked in the wood stove would be a good choice.Being a little light on pizza ingredients the trip to town was confirmed. On my way into Rutherglen I drive past various vineyards.Bullers,Stanton and Killeen and Campbells. At the moment with Autumn upon us, the leaves on the vines are changing colours and with the late afternoon light they looked beautiful.I had a little Panasonic camera I recently purchased second hand with me so took the opportunity to take a few shots. When I got into town the golden light also made everything look great.Below are some of my images from this little expedition The Pizza turned out pretty nice too.I made the dough in my bread maker.Very simple tomato sauce with onions and garlic.Cheese, olives anchovies and bacon. |
